Financial Reporting Council (FRC)

The Financial Reporting Council is responsible for creating and disseminating accounting standards. The general public has relied upon the Financial Reporting council since 1985.

In 2012, the FRC took over the responsibility for issuing accounting standards from the Accounting Standards Board. These standards are referred to as “Statements of Standard Accounting Practice” or SSAP.

Any companies that prepare books of account are to adhere to the SSAPs.
